The Ghazipur’s MP-MLA court in Uttar Pradesh has convicted Mukhtar Ansari in a kidnapping and murder case of Bharatiya Janata MLA Krishnanand Rai and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment, with a fine of ₹5 lakh. The court reserved its verdict on Mukhtar Ansari’s elder brother and BSP MP Afzal Ansari, who is accused of corruption. In January 2001, the police had registered a murder case against Mukhtar Ansari in connection to the 2001 ‘Usri Chatti’ gang war incident. Allahabad high court dismissed Ghazipur MP-MLA Court order, allowing Ansari to be kept in jail in Banda. Anshari and Bhim Singh were sentenced to 10 years in prison for five cases related to murder and attempt to murder. 11 police officers from the Rohini district who were stationed at PCRs and pickets along the road had their deployments approved by the appropriate authorities, the police officer said. This was done in light of the Sultanpuri incident.

Aside from that, according to officials, the MHA instructed the city police to issue show-cause warnings to the supervising officers of the PCR vans and police pickets for allegedly failing to perform their duties.
