A 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit Chile on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, with no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The epicenter of the quake was about 22 miles (35 kilometers) northwest of the town of Ovalle, at a depth of about 22 miles (35 kilometers), the USGS said.

Chile is one of the world’s most earthquake-prone countries. A powerful 8.8-magnitude quake and resulting tsunami in 2010 killed more than 500 people, and a smaller quake in February this year caused some damage and several injuries.
