According to AP Dhillon, shows that sell out in 15 seconds are a marketing ploy. “Artists are treating their own fans unfairly.”
Amid his feud with Diljit Dosanjh, AP Dhillon threw shade at the Punjabi singer’s ongoing Dil-Luminati Tour, shows of which sold out within seconds.
AP Dhillon’s feud with Diljit Dosanjh has been grabbing a lot of eyeballs on social media. Now, on The Ranveer Show, AP addressed the controversy around concerts in India selling out within seconds, including those of Diljit’s ongoing Dil-Luminati Tour. What AP Dhillon said
“India mein abhi crisis aa jayega agar isi hisab se chalta raha (There’ll come a crisis in India if things go on like this). Artists are being unfair with their own fans ki 15 seconds mein sell out ho gaye shows. Kuchh bhi sell out nahi hua hai (that shows sold out within 15 seconds. Nothing is sold out). It’s all a way of marketing. Promoters ko ticket de dete hain. Their fans, ab unko wait karna padta hai, aur higher price mein ticket khareedna padta hai (They sell tickets to promoters. The fans have to wait and buy tickets at higher prices),” said AP Dhillon.
“At some point, humein bhi yehi laga (we also thought), should we play this game? But I’m like no, we can’t go to bed knowing that jinhone show dekhne aana tha, humne unke sath aise kiya (those who wanted to attend the show, we did this to them). You name it, koi bhi show ho raha hai jo sold out hai, mujhe batao, 2,000 tickets chahiye, kal hi dilwa dunga. Aaj hi dilwa dunga. Log music ko abhi game ki tarah khel rahe hain. So usi mein mazza jo hai kharab ho gaya (Any show which is sold out, ask me if you need 2,000 tickets, I’ll get them for you tomorrow, or even today. People are playing music like a game. That’s sucked the joy out of it),” added the singer.
He said people will soon realise what’s happening. Calling it a “dirty game,” AP argued that artists aren’t bigger than fans, and the fans at least deserve to buy tickets at reasonable prices. While AP didn’t name any particular artist because this tactic is working for them, he claimed that artists at a higher stature shouldn’t indulge in these practices because it wouldn’t help them much.
AP’s feud with Diljit Dosanjh
Diljit Dosanjh’s ongoing Dil-Luminati Tour in India reportedly sold out within seconds. At a concert, Diljit argued that he has nothing to do with that and that he’s been working on his music for years so he’s earned this fan frenzy. The Dil-Luminati Tour, which kicked off in Gurgaon in October, will conclude in Guwahati this Sunday on December 29.
During his recent concert in Chandigarh, AP Dhillon addressed the crowd, referencing Diljit’s shoutout to him. In a viral video on social media, he alleged that Diljit had blocked him on Instagram. This remark quickly gained traction online, with fans and media speculating about a potential rift between the two artists.
In a move to clear the air, Diljit took to Instagram shortly after the concert. Sharing a screenshot of AP Dhillon’s account, Diljit wrote, “I never blocked you. Mere pange sarkaaran naal ho sakde aa, kalaakaran naal nahi (My issues could be with governments, not with artists).” Following Diljit’s Instagram Story, Dhillon posted another video on his own Instagram, showing the status of Diljit’s account both before and after the block. He captioned the video: “I wasn’t going to say anything, knowing I’d get backlash anyway, but at least now we know what’s real and what’s not.”

Fans are not pleased with Bang Si Hyuk’s claim that he and BTS have had a cultural impact: “That is embarrassing.”
Bang Si Hyuk credits himself and BTS for cultural impact, but fans aren’t happy: ‘It’s embarrassing…’
In a recent interview, Bang Si Hyuk discussed his journey with BTS, acknowledging their groundbreaking success and the shift in perceptions of Asian culture.
HYBE founder and Chairman Bang Si Hyuk recently sat down for an interview with Asia Society, which was subsequently released on YouTube. During the interview, the K-pop mogul, currently embroiled in legal disputes with former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and the K-pop group NewJeans, attributed the rise of the global Hallyu wave to the success of BTS.
Bang Si Hyuk credits BTS for K-pop success
“Honestly, I never imagined this kind of success,” Chairman Bang replied when asked if he ever envisioned his work leading to the spread of K-pop and Korean culture. “When I was young, the global market, or the U.S. market, which represents the global market, felt so far from me. All those involved were heroes to me, people I could never possibly approach.”
Crediting BTS for their role in his success, he continued, “And when BTS and I embarked on this journey together, I never thought it would lead us to where we are now.”
Bang Si Hyuk spoke about his unexpected journey with BTS, admitting that he never imagined their success would reach the level it has today. He shared that a couple of years after BTS debuted, he realised he was creating something truly groundbreaking in Asia. “I got to where I am now because I chased my dreams, but even now, when I look back, there are many times when what I’m doing feels unrealistic,” he said according to The Qoo.
Bang also touched on the importance of understanding cultural differences, believing that when we welcome those differences, it can lead to global peace and progress. “Before BTS achieved global success, the understanding of Asian culture was very narrow or superficial, and people who liked Asian culture were seen as people with very unique tastes.”
He continued, “I think that my efforts through BTS have improved our understanding of each other as people around the world have come to think that they are hot.”
K-netizens react to HYBE’s chairman’s comment on BTS and K-pop success
While BTS undeniably brought a revolutionary change to K-pop, positioning itself as one of the biggest and most influential boy bands with millions of fans around the world, not everyone seemed pleased with Bang Si Hyuk’s recent remarks. Some Korean fans felt it was unfair of him to overlook the contributions of earlier K-pop acts who helped pave the way for BTS’s success. Others also pointed to his ongoing controversies with NewJeans and questioned how he handles K-pop groups beyond BTS.
“Is he still in the US? Why isn’t he even coming to Korea, yet keeps mentioning the members and talking nonsense?” a social media user commented. “Bang Si Hyuk, wake up. I had a lot of problems with being a BTS fanboy, and I’m worried about the future, so I’m on the verge of quitting the fandom,” another user shared. “It’s embarrassing that HYBE is becoming the face of K-pop,” a third chimed in. “It’s all because of BTS, not you, so don’t take credit,” another remarked. However, some defended him, praising his treatment of BTS despite the criticism, with others pointing out how he is being treated unfairly in Korea due to “stupid” allegations.
