OpenAI is set to release the GPT-5 ChatGPT model in the coming months, with a potential launch in summer, according to Business Insider. Sources close to the Sam Altman-led AI company have reported that some businesses have received demos of the advanced model.

A CEO who tested GPT-5 approved the model, stating it was materially better than OpenAI’s previous model, citing unique use cases and data from his company.

OpenAI is currently training GPT-5, and after completing the multimodal large language model, it will undergo red teaming, a cybersecurity check process where outsiders challenge the program to identify potential weaknesses or issues that may have evaded its creators.

Business Insider reports that ChatGPT-5’s launch may be delayed due to the lack of a fixed safety testing completion timeframe, potentially due to system flaws discovered by read team members.

ChatGPT’s main revenue source comes from businesses paying OpenAI for customized versions. The team aims to impress customers and the public with CPT-5, launched on November 30, 2022, impacting various industries like education and customer service.

OpenAI has not announced GPT-5, but Sam Altman introduced Sora, an AI-backed tool that can create one-minute videos based on text prompts. Altman asked his X followers for video prompts and shared the videos on his X account.

OpenAI acknowledges Sora’s limitations, including potential issues with simulating complex scene physics and understanding cause and effect, despite its impressive results, in a blog post.

OpenAI warns Sora of potential confusion in spatial details and ensures it rejects prompts violating their usage policies, including hateful imagery, sexual content, and IP theft.
