The People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) actions in Tawang are most likely a response to the Auli Indo-US exercises that were conducted in September of this year. The PLA’s actions could also be seen as a way to send a message to both India and the United States that they are not happy with the joint military exercises.

India and China have been engaged in a series of high-level military exercises across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the disputed Kashmir region. India’s top diplomat Ravishankar Basu Bhattacharya says the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has little interest in normalising relations with India.
