At a Detroit Democratic event on Saturday night, June 8, Kamala Harris reprimanded an anti-Israel demonstrator who had interrupted her. On social media, a video of the incident is making the rounds.

In an attempt to allay any possible tension, the vice president began her remarks at the Michigan Democratic Party Legacy Dinner by discussing the conflict in Gaza, but it had the opposite effect. Cries from the crowd could be heard shortly after. One woman could be heard screaming, “It’s genocide!” over and over.

Harris then abruptly stopped to criticise the demonstrator. “President Biden and I have been working daily to bring this conflict to a resolution for the past eight months; I am currently speaking.” She said, “I respect and value your voice, but I’m speaking now. Security took the woman away.

But Harris seemed to understand, and he went on to say, “It’s time for this war to end.” The audience seemed to quiet down when Harris said those words, so she could continue.

Several politicians and celebrities have had to deal with the fury of demonstrators at various occasions since the Israel-Hamas crisis began. Kim Kardashian is one recent celebrity who encountered a pro-Palestine demonstrator on May 7 while attending the OMR business event in Hamburg, Germany. Kardashian was there to give a speech on the internet and marketing industries.

A demonstrator was heard shouting for the freedom of Palestine in a video that went viral at the time. Kardashian can be heard saying, “Leave everyone alone.” There were perhaps 7,000 people in the hall, and the demonstrator needed to be removed.

“I have sympathy for the people of Israel and Palestine,” Kardashian continued. I feel sorry for everyone. Everyone feeling secure and liberated is all that we desire.”

“You feel secure. Additionally, be kind to them and show them the same respect that you would like to receive. These are undoubtedly frightening times,” she continued.
