Before the third Test, Stokes exclaims, “We could stroll away with a whitewash in Pakistan.”
England all-rounder Ben Stokes has said that his side could “stroll away” with a 3-0 series win against Pakistan.
The third Test in Sharjah starts on Sunday, and England lead the series 2-0 after wins in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
“It would be a great achievement to come away with a 3-0 series win,” Stokes told BBC Sport.
“Pakistan are a very good team, especially in their own conditions, so to come away with a whitewash would be a fantastic effort from the boys.”
The last time England won a Test series 3-0 in Asia was back in 1993, when they beat Pakistan in Pakistan.
Stokes has been in outstanding form in the series so far, scoring hundreds in both Tests.
He is the first England player to score two centuries in a Test series in Asia, and he is also the leading run-scorer in the series.
“I’m loving every minute out here,” said Stokes.
“It’s been a great series for me personally, but the most important thing is that we win the series.”
