Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the US House of Representatives, and her immediate family will face sanctions from China as a result of their "vicious" and "provocative" behaviour, the Chinese foreign ministry announced on Friday.

Pelosi insisted on visiting Taiwan despite China's grave concerns and adamant opposition, seriously interfering in Chinese internal affairs, undermining China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, violating the one-China policy, and endangering the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait, according to a ministry spokesperson.
