The Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs has released a list of changed names in Arunachal Pradesh, referred to as ‘Zangnan’.

China’s claim on Arunachal Pradesh was rejected by India’s external affairs minister, S Jaishankar, following the release of a fourth list of 30 new names.

The Indian Minister stated that changing the name of a house does not affect the state of Arunachal Pradesh, which is a part of India, and that the army is deployed there, as stated in a briefing in Surat.

The Chinese ministry of civil affairs has released a list of changed names in Arunachal Pradesh, now known as ‘Zangnan’ and a part of South Tibet.

The ministry’s official website has added 30 new names to the region, with implementation measures requiring direct quotes or translations of foreign language place names that could harm China’s territorial claims and sovereignty rights from May 1.

Jaishankar criticized China’s claim on Arunachal, stating that the state is a natural part of India and that the claims are ludicrous, as they have expanded and are not new issues.

He stated that they have been consistent in their approach and that this will be part of the boundary discussions.

The US State Department’s deputy spokesperson, Vedant Patel, stated that the US recognizes Arunachal Pradesh as Indian territory and strongly opposes unilateral territorial claims through incursions or encroachments across the Line of Actual Control.
