Christmas gift: 165 residents of a Belgian village win $151 million in a big lottery

It’s that time of year again! The time when we all start thinking about what we’re going to get our loved ones for Christmas. And while some of us are still trying to figure out what to get our significant others or our kids, the residents of a small Belgian village have already won the Christmas lottery… literally.

165 residents of the village of Torgny won the big lottery this year, taking home a total of 151 million dollars (about $151 million). That’s an average of $918,000 per person! Talk about a Christmas bonus.

The residents of Torgny are no strangers to winning the lottery. In fact, this is the third time in the last 10 years that the village has produced a big winner. In 2008, one resident won 10 million euros and in 2011, another won 100 million euros.

So what are the odds of this happening? Well, the odds of winning the lottery are pretty slim to begin with. But the odds of three residents of the same village winning the lottery in 10 years? That’s pretty much unheard of.

So if you’re feeling a little lucky this Christmas, maybe you should buy a lottery ticket. You never know, you could be the next big.
