Coimbatore blast: NIA detains three people for participating in a conspiracy meeting

At least three people have been detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the Coimbatore blast case. The agency had conducted searches at the residences of the three people in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday morning.

The NIA had earlier arrested two people, Mohanraj and Suresh, in connection with the case. The agency had also conducted searches at the residences of the two accused.

The Coimbatore blast had taken place on February 14, 1998, at a rally organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to protest against the killing of party workers by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The blast had claimed the lives of 58 people and injured over 200.
