Congress and Dhankhar are still at odds over Sonia’s comments about the court.

The face-off between the Congress and the BJP over Sonia Gandhi’s remarks on the “Criminalisation of politics” and the “Interference of the judiciary in the functioning of the executive” continues, with the former slamming the latter for “spreading lies” and the latter hitting back with charges of “insulting” the judiciary.

The bone of contention is Sonia Gandhi’s remarks at a function organised by the Congress party on Saturday to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. She had said that the “Criminalisation of politics” and the “Interference of the judiciary in the functioning of the executive” were two of the biggest challenges faced by the country today.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra was quick to jump on the Congress president’s remarks, calling them an “insult” to the judiciary. “The Congress president has insulted the judiciary of this country. She has questioned the integrity of the judiciary and has also said that the interference of the judiciary is hampering the functioning of the executive,” Patra said.

The Congress, however, has hit back, with party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala calling Patra’s remarks “false and misleading”. “The BJP and its spokes
