The Congress has criticised Amit Malviya’s claim that Rahul Gandhi’s shoe was tied by a former minister. Malviya, who is the head of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) IT cell, had tweeted a photo of Gandhi with his shoe untied, claiming that the Congress president’s shoe was tied by a former minister.

The Congress has termed Malviya’s claim as “false and misleading”. “The Congress president was not wearing any shoes when he was meeting the farmers. He was only wearing chappals. It is completely false and misleading to say that his shoe was tied by a former minister,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said.

The BJP has also been accused of circulating a fake photo of Rahul Gandhi in an attempt to discredit him. The photo, which shows Gandhi wearing a pair of shoes with his shoelaces untied, was shared by several BJP leaders and supporters on social media.

The Congress has demanded that the BJP apologise for circulating the fake photo and for Malviya’s remarks. “The BJP should apologise for circulating the fake photo and for Malviya’s remarks. The Congress will not tolerate such lies and disinformation,” Surjewala said.
