Hansal Mehta responds to Anupam Kher’s criticism of the Manmohan Singh biopic: I take responsibility for my blunders.

Hansal Mehta talks to us exclusively after his fight with Anupam Kher on twitter, about The Accidental Prime Minister. Hopes to make “lesser errors of judgement

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta stands by his stance of supporting Vir Sanghvi’s critical tweet on the film The Accidental Prime Minister. While actor Anupam Kher, who played the lead role of late Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the 2019 film, didn’t approve of Mehta’s support to the tweet against the film, the filmmaker, who was also the creative producer for the film, has no regrets.

The late ex-PM died on December 26, leading to the discussion around the film made on his tenure as a Prime Minister.

On Friday, Vir Sanghvi had tweeted, “If you want to remember the lies that were told about Manmohan Singh you should rewatch The Accidental Prime Minister. It is not only one of the worst Hindi movies ever made but is an example of how media was used to tarnish the name of a good man.” Reacting to it, Hansal wrote, “+100.”

Anupam Kher, 69, then wrote a long tweet saying that while he has no problem with Sanghvi expressing his opinion, Mehta, who was the creative director of the film shouldn’t go against the film.

Speaking to HtCity exclusively on Kher’s reaction, Hansal Mehta says, “I stand by my successes as I do my failures. I own up to my mistakes as much as I do any other choices I’ve made in my life. But to self-reflect, to introspect and to admit in hindsight that I’ve erred is my prerogative. There are times in a career where you carry out professional duties even when in dissonance or not in control with the work assigned to you. By self-reflection I hope to make lesser errors of judgement in the future.”

However, Hansal doesn’t back down for the respect he has for Kher.

“I think what irked Mr Kher was my agreement with another senior journalists criticism of the film. That might have been ill timed and deemed unnecessary but it reiterated some of my sentiments. Mr Kher is a senior and I will not resort to any mud-slinging towards him, his name calling or his opinions. I might have differences with him but the process of working with him was made pleasant because of his affable nature and commitment. Having said that I have often been self-critical and that is who I am. It helps me evolve and move forward. Nothing or nobody can stop that,” concludes Mehta.

Here is a simple recipe for you to attempt at home as the BJP celebrates the Maharashtra Election 2024 results with jalebi.

“As BJP celebrates Maharashtra Election 2024 results with jalebi, here’s an easy recipe for you to try at home

BJP celebrates a sweeping victory in Maharashtra Election 2024 with jalebis. If you have a sweet tooth too, try this easy recipe at home

Jalebis and celebrations go hand in hand. But the deep-fried Indian delicacy also has a special connection to elections in our country. It all started when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi showed a box of jalebis from the famous Matu Ram Halwai during a rally in Haryana’s Gohana, stating that it should be sold across the nation. He wanted these jalebis to be exported in order to generate more employment opportunities in India. Well, on the day of the Haryana assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders celebrated their party’s victory in the state by eating jalebis. BJP leaders even got jalebis delivered to Gandhi’s home. Today, as the Mahayuti alliance— comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP— marks a landslide victory in Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024, BJP leaders are once again celebrating with piping hot jalebis.

Well, if this makes you crave jalebis too, try out this easy recipe by Swasthi. All you need for the jalebi is 1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons corn starch, 1/8 teaspoon turmeric, 1/2 cup curd, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, oil or ghee as needed. Coming to the ingredients for the sugar syrup: 1 cup sugar, 1/2-3/4 cup water, 1 pinch saffron, 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder, 1 teaspoon lemon juice.

Let’s start with the sugar syrup. Begin by adding sugar and water to a pot. Boil on medium heat until it reaches the consistency of a single string. Pour lemon juice, cardamom powder and saffron. Remove from the stove, stir and set aside.

Mix maida, cornflour and turmeric in a bowl. Add curd to this mixture before making a batter by pouring in the water. Beat the batter with a whisk until smooth. Now that your batter is ready, let’s begin frying! Heat the ghee/oil on medium heat. To the batter, add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Add soda to this concoction and mix. Now take 2-3 tablespoons of the batter and put it in a zip lock bag or a cloth bag. Squeeze the bag gently over the hot oil/ghee in circular motions from the center, slowly moving outside to get a spiral jalebi. Fry until crispy and then dip this into the sugar syrup. Let it rest for two minutes before taking it out and serving hot.

The Election Commission of India reports that V Muraleedharan, Union minister of state for external affairs, is lagging from Kerala’s Attingal constituency in the Lok Sabha elections.

According to preliminary findings, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister is trailing Congress MP Adoor Prakash and Communist Party of India (Marxist) member V Joy. As of 12:20 PM, V Joy has a 432 vote advantage, according to the ECI.

According to the Election Commission of India, V Muraleedharan, the Union minister of state for external affairs, is trailing behind in the Lok Sabha elections from the Attingal constituency in Kerala.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister is lagging behind Congress MP Adoor Prakash and Communist Party of India (Marxist) member V Joy, early results show. As of 12:20 PM, the ECI shows that V Joy is ahead by 432 votes.

Later in 2016, he ran from Kazhakootam in the Kerala State Assembly elections, but CPI (M) leader Kadakampally Surendran won with 7,347 votes.

But he has held a number of posts within the party; from January 2010 until January 2015, he presided over the Kerala state unit. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the NDA’s vote share grew to 10.8% under his leadership as the BJP state president of Kerala, marking the first time it has crossed the double digits.

In April 2018, Muraleedharan, who was born into a Congress family in the Communist stronghold of Thalassery, was elected to the Rajya Sabha.

Prior to submitting his nomination for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a group of students who had been evacuated from Ukraine during the conflict between the Union government and Russia gave him money for his security deposit.

The BJP fielded Sobha Surendran, an Attingal resident, in 2019, and she finished third with 14.43% of the vote. The party’s 2014 candidate, S Girija Kumari, received just 3.95% of the total votes cast.

After the delimitation in 2008, the Attingal Lok Sabha seat was created. On April 26, it held its second phase of elections, with 69.48% of the vote cast.

Beginning on April 19 and ending on June 1, there were seven phases to the Lok Sabha elections for 543 seats. With Narendra Modi as prime minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party is vying for an uncommon third term in power at the Centre.
