Delhi records a minimum temperature of 7.2°C, while the air quality remains “extremely poor.”

The national capital on Thursday morning recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season’s average, while the air quality remained in the “extremely poor” zone, authorities said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the Safdarjung Observatory, which provides representative data for the city, recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius at 5.30 am.

The minimum temperature was four notches below the season’s average and the mercury is likely to dip further in the coming days, the IMD said.

The overall air quality index (AQI) in the city was recorded at 356, which falls in the “extremely poor” category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.

The AQI at Anand Vihar, Jahangirpuri, Dwarka Sector-8, Rohini and Bawana was recorded at 394, 382, 375, 372 and 371, respectively — all in the “severe” category, it said.

The AQI in the “severe” category falls between 401 and 500.
