Discussions at the collegium are not covered by RTI: High Court
The High Court has ruled that discussions held at the collegium are not covered by the Right to Information (RTI) Act. This means that the minutes of these meetings will not be made public.
The collegium is the body of judges who decide on the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court and the High Courts.
This ruling was given in response to a petition filed by lawyer R. K. Jain, who had sought the minutes of the collegium meetings held in 2016 and 2017.
