At the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his second day of meditation on June 1. As eight states and UT head to the polls for the seventh round of the Lok Sabha election 2024, PM Modi will wrap up his meditation today.

Having completed the ‘Surya Arghya’ before daybreak at the Vivekananda Rock, where Swami Vivekananda had meditated before achieving enlightenment, PM Modi began his second day of meditation in Tamil Nadu.

The prime minister performed ‘Surya Arghya,’ a spiritual rite that involves saluting the sun, who is thought to be the embodiment of the Almighty.

The PM prayed with his japa mala prayer beads and offered a small amount of water into the sea (Arghya), a traditional beaker-like receptacle. According to officials, he presented flowers to a statue of Swami Vivekananda and wore a saffron outfit.

The prime minister then took a stroll around the mandapam while holding his “japa mala.” PM Modi will leave for Delhi on Saturday night when his two days of meditation come to an end, following the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections.

The memorial is situated on a small islet close to the shoreline, and Kanyakumari is well-known for its sunrises and sunsets. The PM began his meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial on the evening of May 30 and is expected to finish it today.

On Thursday, PM Modi made his way to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Hindu texts state that Goddess Parvati likewise stood on one foot and concentrated there while she awaited Lord Shiva.

On Thursday, the prime minister left Hoshiarpur, Punjab, to conclude the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election campaign and headed to Kanniyakumari. With an eye towards a third term in office, Prime Minister Modi conducted a nationwide campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, the results of which would be made public on June 4.

PM Modi conducted around 206 election campaign events, such as roadshows and rallies, over the course of 75 days throughout the election season. Additionally, he had almost 80 interviews for various news and media outlets.
