Facebook and Instagram in India have removed over 22 million pieces of bad content.

Meta successfully removed over 17.8 million harmful content pieces from 13 Facebook policies and 4.8 million objectionable content pieces from 12 Instagram policies in India in January.

Facebook received 29,548 complaints in January through the Indian grievance mechanism and provided tools for users to resolve 21,060 cases.

Meta has implemented measures in its monthly report to comply with the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, including pre-established channels for reporting content violations, self-remediation flows, and account hacked issues.

Meta stated that out of 8,488 reports requiring specialized review, content analysis was followed by taking action on 4,632 complaints, while 3,856 grievances were reviewed but may not have been addressed.

The company received 19,311 complaints on Instagram through the Indian grievance mechanism.

The company has provided tools for users to resolve their issues in 9,476 cases.

Meta analyzed 9,835 reports requiring specialized review and took action on 4,849 complaints out of the total 9,835 reports that required such review.

Meta measures the number of content pieces that go against their standards, including posts, photos, videos, or comments. Actions may include removing content from platforms or covering disturbing content with warnings to certain audiences.
