AirAsia, a low-cost airline based in Malaysia, is set to launch a new airline in Cambodia. This comes after the airline’s failures in other countries, such as Thailand and Indonesia.

The new airline, which is yet to be named, will begin operations in early 2019. It will be based in Phnom Penh and will serve domestic routes within Cambodia.

AirAsia’s entry into the Cambodian market is expected to create stiff competition for flag carrier Cambodia Angkor Air, as well as budget airlines like Bangkok Airways and VietJet Air.

With its low fares and extensive route network, AirAsia is sure to be a hit with budget-conscious travellers in Cambodia.
