Former opener’s courageous assessment of Shubman Gill: “After Virat Kohli, he is the next big hitter to come from India.”

When it comes to discussing the next big hitter in Indian cricket, former opener Virender Sehwag did not hesitate in giving his verdict – Shubman Gill.

“After Virat Kohli, he is the next big hitter to come from India,” Sehwag said in an exclusive interview with India TV.

The 20-year-old Gill made his Test debut against Australia in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, where he impressed with his composure and technique.

“He has all the shots in the book and he is not afraid to use them. He is a very confident young batsman and he has a bright future ahead of him,” Sehwag said.

The former India opener also had high praise for Gill’s Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), for showing faith in him and giving him an opportunity to showcase his talent on the big stage.

“I think KKR have done a great job by investing in him and giving him a chance to play in the IPL. He has repaid their faith with some brilliant performances,” Sehwag said.
