In late 2019, FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried was arrested and accused of running an “epic” fraud. He was released on a $250 million bond. The case is still ongoing.

The man behind the collapse of the FTX crypto exchange has been released on a $250 million bond package. Sam Bankman-Fried is accused of defrauding investors in a “fraud of epic proportions,” a U.S. prosecutor said.

Todd Bankman-Fried has appeared in court accused of stealing billions of dollars to plug losses at his hedge fund. He has previously acknowledged risk-management failures at FTX, but has said he does not believe he has criminal liability. His defence lawyer declined to comment after the hearing.
