In a terrifying event, a US airport employee was pulled into a plane’s engine.

In a terrifying event at O’Hare International Airport, a ramp worker was pulled into the engine of an airplane that was preparing for takeoff. The worker, who has not been identified, was reportedly caught in the engine’s intake, and was pulled into the engine as it started up. The worker was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a bizarre mishap on December 31 where the plane had its parking brake set, the worker was sucked into the Embraer 170’s engine, according to the report.

One of the aircraft’s engines was still operating as it was parked after a flight from Dallas. At that time, the worker was absorbed into the engine.

The executive director of the airport, Wade Davis, issued a statement saying, “We are heartbroken to learn about the unfortunate loss of a team member of the AA/Piedmont Airlines.”

“During this trying time, our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” he continued.
