The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has decided to ban the film Kantara from being screened in the state. The decision was taken after a Muslim couple was threatened and barred from watching the film in a theatre in Bengaluru. The couple had gone to watch the film with their family, but were stopped by a group of men who said that the film was “anti-Muslim”. The couple was also told that they would be beaten up if they tried to watch the film. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has said that it will not allow the film to be screened in the state until the director of the film, S.R. Prabhu, removes the “objectionable scenes” from the film. Prabhu has said that he will not do so.
