Akram slams Indian and Pakistani cricketers amid the Shami-Akhtar incident, saying, “Yeh jalti pe tel daalna… just don’t do it.”

In addition to team battles on the field, off the field, and on social media during the T20 World Cup, there was also a verbal exchange between current and former cricketers, particularly from India and Pakistan. The most recent of these was the incident involving the legendary Indian pacer Mohammed Shami and Shoaib Akhtar of Pakistan, which took place shortly after the Babar Azam-led team’s heartbreaking loss to England in the T20 World Cup final on Sunday in Melbourne. Wasim Akram, a former captain of Pakistan, attacked these cricketers in a statement regarding these Twitter fights.

Akhtar took to Twitter shortly after Pakistan’s five-wicket loss at the MCG to post the broken heart emoticon. Nothing was written, and there were no hashtags either.

Shami retweeted the article and added the same broken-heart emojis along with the words “Hello brother, it’s call karma.” Akhtar also retaliated against the pacer. In light of Pakistan’s defeat, the Twitter battle ended up being one of the most popular topics on the social media platform.

In response to the Twitter war of words, Akram said during a conversation on A Sports that since we are all patriotic to our own countries, we should let them handle it rather than replying to tweets.
We must maintain our neutrality. Indians have a strong sense of patriotism for their nation, and I have no problem with that. But instead of that, just don’t do it man, jalti pe tel daalna, tweet pe tweet karna,” he said.

Misbah ul Haq, a former Pakistani captain who took part in the conversation, added, “You shouldn’t do this just to get a few ‘Likes.’ We are all cricket players, whether we are from Pakistan, India, or any other nation. As a result, we ought to treat one another with respect and express our opinions in turn. Additionally, we are accountable for something.
