As cyclone Mandous approaches, Tamil Nadu is prepared with 5,000 camps and 400 rescue personnel. All the most recent news can be found here.Cyclone Mandous (pronounced Man-Dous) lies over southwest Bay of Bengal, about 340 km east-northeast of Trincomalee. The storm is likely to cross the coasts of north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh at midnight on December 9.
Squally winds, reaching 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph, are also likely to prevail today. Sea conditions are expected to be rough, and fisherfolk have been advised not to venture into the sea.
