After the fracas in Parliament, Amit Shah criticises the Congress and draws attention to the Nehru connection

In the wake of the recent fracas in Parliament, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah has criticised the Congress party and drawn attention to the Nehru connection.

Shah was quoted by the Hindustan Times as saying, “The Congress’s behaviour in Parliament is condemnable. They are doing this because they know they cannot defeat the Modi government on any issue.”

He added, “The Congress is in power in only two states — Karnataka and Punjab. And in both these states, the party is on the verge of collapse.”

The BJP president also took a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying, “Rahul Gandhi says he is a Shiv bhakt. If he is a Shiv bhakt, then he should also know that Lord Shiva had said that those who do not have faith in their own capabilities, their own country and their own culture, will keep on wandering.”

Shah’s comments come in the backdrop of the recent scuffle in Parliament, which was witnessed during the passage of the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. The Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on Monday night with a division of votes, with 311 members voting in favour and
