India has slammed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) over the top official’s travel to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), calling it “Pakistan’s mouthpiece”. The OIC’s Secretary General, Yousef Al-Othaimeen, is scheduled to visit Pakistan from April 28-30.

During his visit, Al-Othaimeen will meet with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and other senior officials. He is also scheduled to visit the Line of Control (LoC) – the de facto border between India and Pakistan – in PoK.

The OIC is a 57-member organisation of Muslim-majority countries. Pakistan is a founding member of the group, while India is not.

“We strongly condemn the OIC Secretary General’s decision to travel to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This is a clear violation of India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a statement.

“The OIC has no locus standi on the matter of India’s internal affairs. By agreeing to travel to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the Secretary General is effectively serving as Pakistan’s mouthpiece,” Kumar added.
