On Wednesday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached A Raja’s land worth Rs 55 crore in Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal district under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, 1988. The land, measuring over 23 acres, was bought by Raja’s wife, daughter and a close aide in the names ofshell companies, the ED said.

Reacting to the ED’s action, Raja said the land in question does not belong to him and he has no “benami” properties. “I have no involvement in this land. It does not belong to me. I have no benami properties,” he told reporters in Chennai.

The former Union minister said he would face the probe “legally and politically”. “I will face the probe legally and politically. I have nothing to do with the land. I have not done anything wrong,” he said.

Raja, who was the Telecom Minister in the UPA-II government, is an accused in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case. He is currently out on bail.
