India’s batting coach, Sanjay Bangar, has expressed his perplexity at the “unhappiness” with the pitch for the second Test in Pune.

“I don’t understand this unhappiness with the pitch. Go and ask Mr. Dravid and the curator what they think about it. It is a good pitch to bat on,” Bangar said on the eve of the Test.

The pitch for the opening Test in Rajkot was rated as “poor” by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and there were concerns that the Pune pitch would be of a similar nature.

However, Bangar said that the pitch in Pune is a “good Test match pitch” and that the Indian team is looking to put up a good show on it.

“We are looking to put up a good show on this pitch and we are confident of doing so,” he said.
