India needs to advance sustainably rather than quickly, says PM Modi
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for the country to focus on sustainable development, rather than simply trying to advance quickly.
Modi made the comments during a speech at the India-Africa Forum Summit in New Delhi. He said that India and Africa must work together to achieve sustainable development, and that this was the only way to ensure that the benefits of development are shared by all.
The prime minister also announced a number of initiatives that India will be undertaking in order to help Africa achieve sustainable development. These include the launch of an India-Africa Sustainability Forum, and the setting up of an Africa-India Development Cooperation Fund.
