Iran has executed a second person in connection with the anti-government demonstrations that have taken place in the country over the past week, according to a report.

The person, identified as Mohammad Salas, was convicted of “waging war against God” and sentenced to death by a Revolutionary Court, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

Salas was reportedly arrested during the protests in the city of Boroujerd, in the western province of Lorestan.

The demonstrations in Iran began last week over economic grievances but quickly turned into anti-government protests, with some participants calling for the overthrow of the regime.

At least 21 people have been killed and hundreds arrested in the crackdown on the demonstrations by the Iranian security forces.
