Ireland’s star player explains why, “after two weeks,” he departed Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2022: I was like, “Get me out of here.”
I had a great time with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, but after two weeks, I was ready to leave. The reason? I just wasn’t enjoying myself.
I’m not the sort of person who is content to just sit on the sidelines and watch others play. I need to be out there in the thick of the action, contributing to the team’s success. And that’s something I just wasn’t able to do in Chennai.
I’m not sure if it was the culture shock of being in a new country or the fact that I was homesick for Ireland, but whatever the reason, I just wasn’t happy.
So, after two weeks, I asked to be released from my contract. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one for me.
I’m grateful to the Chennai Super Kings for giving me the opportunity to play in the IPL, and I wish them all the best for the rest of the tournament.
