“It’s a harmful link,” the NIC warns government employees over a recent phishing effort.

If you’re a government employee, beware of a recent phishing email that’s been making the rounds. The email appears to come from the National Information Center (NIC), and it warns recipients not to click on a certain link. But clicking on the link is exactly what the phishers want you to do. Once you do, they’ll be able to access your computer and steal your sensitive information.

If you receive this email, delete it immediately. Don’t click on the link, and don’t reply to the sender. If you have any questions about whether an email is legitimate, you can always contact the NIC directly to check. But in this case, it’s best to err on the side of caution and delete the email without clicking on anything.
