Kherson, Ukraine, lost electricity following intense Russian shelling; two people were killed. The town’s power plant was hit by shells, knocking out power to the town. Two people were killed in the shelling.

Kherson, one of the first major cities to fall to Russia, was recaptured by Ukraine last month. The city was shelled more than 16 times on Thursday, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. Governor Yaroslav Yanushevich confirmed that the city is completely without power.

He said that a total of six persons were injured with varying degrees of severity, including one who was a member of an international organisation.
