At his rallies, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav is drawing large crowds. Following their supporters’ mad dash to the dais at a rally in Prayagraj last week, Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi fled the event without speaking. The most populous state in the nation, Uttar Pradesh, has at least 30 seats available for the SP-Congress combine, according to a former Union minister and Congress leader from the state.

If the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) is to keep the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from taking back power, it must perform well in states like Maharashtra (48 seats).

Situation akin to a stampede

Supporters of the SP broke through security protocols, jumped barricades, and charged towards the dais at Yadav’s open meeting on Tuesday in the Lalganj Lok Sabha constituency. After a situation akin to a stampede, the police broke up the crowd and took charge of the situation. Yadav began addressing the throng, and soon the gathering got out of control.

Shah wants Patnaik to step down.

In response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Tuesday request that 77-year-old Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik step down owing to “advanced age and health issues,” longtime Congressman P Chidambaram took a jab. If Shah was alluding to 73-year-old Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chidambaram questioned.

Should the BJP win the state’s elections, Shah pledged that the party would appoint a youthful Odia-speaking local as chief minister. Because Naveen Babu is not doing well, there are not enough candidates to fill the 150000 government positions. These positions will be filled by appointments if we establish a government.

On X, Chidambaram wrote, “Was Mr. Amit Shah hinting at Mr. Narendra Modi (73 years, 7 months) in the event that the BJP won the election by saying that Mr. Naveen Patnaik should retire due to his ‘advanced age’ of 77 years?”

Following Modi’s 75th birthday, Shah will succeed him, according to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. According to the BJP, Modi will still be in office in 2029.

Stalin criticises Modi

A day after the Prime Minister claimed that Tamil Nadu was home to the lost keys to the Jagannath Temple’s Ratna Bhandar, which houses priceless treasures belonging to the gods, Chief Minister MK Stalin accused Modi on Tuesday of promoting enmity. Stalin claimed that the comment was intended to defame Tamils in order to get support. Stalin issued a statement saying, “The Prime Minister should stop defaming Tamil Nadu and Tamils for votes.”

Modi criticised the Patnaik-led administration of Odisha on Monday, claiming that even the Lord Jagannath temple in Puri is unsafe.

Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal, according to Tamil Nadu’s BJP president K Annamalai, is supporting “outsider” VK Pandian, a Tamilian, and does not appreciate the people of Odisha and their culture.
