Mumbai hoarding collapse: This week, an individual seeking treatment after being rescued from the wreckage passed away from his injuries, bringing the total number of fatalities in the billboard collapse incident in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, to 17. 52-year-old Raju Sonawane was one of the 41 patients being treated at the hospital for his wounds after he was dragged from the debris when the hoarding collapsed on a gas pump.

On May 19, around 11 p.m., Raju Sonawane was pronounced deceased at KEM Hospital. Prior to this, the number of fatalities had increased to 16 after the bodies of a couple were discovered hidden beneath a car that was submerged in hoarding collapse debris.

Officials announced on Wednesday that the Mumbai Crime Branch has established a six-person Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the Ghatkopar hoarding fall event.

The owner of the business that erected the enormous billboard, Bhavesh Bhide, was hauled to Mumbai last week after being taken into custody by the Mumbai Crime Branch in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Police are looking into how Bhide got the hoarding contract and how much he made, according to officials.

Mumbai Crime Branch sets a SIT to investigate the incident, according to an official release from Mumbai Police. The SIT will now look into the situation. There are six officers in the SIT. Important documents were taken from the prime accused Bhavesh Bhinde’s apartment by the SIT after they were inspected. He has seven bank accounts spread across various banks.

An illegal hoarding larger than an Olympic pool collapsed on top of a gas pump in Ghatkopar, resulting in 17 fatalities and 75 injuries. Dust storms around the city and the pillar’s weakened foundation, which supported the billboard, were the causes of the fall.

In Maharashtra, the billboard crash also set off a political brawl. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya poked fun at the former Maharashtra administration a day after the incident.

I would like to notify you that on November 28, 2019, Uddhav Thackeray was appointed as the Chief Minister. The jurisdiction over this land was held by the Maharashtra government at the time. Neither the Railway Ministry nor the Central Government have power over land, he stated.
