Most people are familiar with NASA’s role in space exploration, but did you know that the organization also monitors Earth’s water? In fact, NASA has just launched the first-ever SWOT project, which stands for “Surface Water and Ocean Topography.”

This mission will use two satellites to monitor almost all of the water on Earth, including lakes, rivers, and oceans. The data collected will be used to create a global map of water surfaces, which will help scientists better understand the Earth’s water cycle.

This is a huge undertaking, and it’s exciting to think about what we might learn about our planet and its water resources. Stay tuned for more updates on this incredible project!
