The stock market has been on a roll lately with the Sensex breaching the 60,000 mark and Nifty closing in on 18,000. However, the market has opened in the red today with the Sensex at 60,334 and Nifty at 17,972. This is likely due to the sell-off in global markets as the US-China trade tensions continue to escalate.

A gain of 80.16 points lifted the 30-share BSE Sensex to 60,433.43 dollars. The NSE Nifty, a wider index, increased 26.1 points to 18,018.25.

The top gainers from the Sensex pack included Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Industries, ITC, Nestle, Tata Steel, Hindustan Unilever, Titan, Wipro, and Bharti Airtel.

The underperformers included Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, and HDFC.

Equity markets in Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong were all trading in positive territory.
