Parliament’s winter session ends early amid conflict between the government and opposition.
The winter session of parliament ended early on Friday amid continuing conflict between the government and opposition over a range of issues. The session was originally scheduled to end on December 13, but was cut short by a week due to lack of progress on legislative business.
The government and opposition have been at loggerheads over a number of issues, including the government’s handling of the economy, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, and the recent Citizenship Amendment Act. Opposition parties have been demanding that the government address these issues in parliament, but the government has been resistant.
The end of the session means that several important bills, including the Citizenship Amendment Bill, will not be passed into law. The government has said that it will reintroduce these bills in the next parliament session, but the opposition has vowed to continue to resist.
