India’s President, Modi, has nominated Sudha Murty Ji to the Rajya Sabha, highlighting her significant contributions in social work, philanthropy, and education. She praised her as a ‘Nari Shakti’, highlighting the potential of women in shaping the nation’s destiny.

Sudha Murty, an Indian educator, author, and philanthropist, has established the Murty Classical Library of India at Harvard University and previously chaired the Infosys Foundation.

Sudha Murty was awarded the Padma Shri in 2006 and the Padma Bhushan in 2023, both being the fourth and third-highest civilian awards in India.

Murty is married to Infosys co-founder Narayan Murty, with whom she has two children, Akshata and Rohan, and is married to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Sudha Murthy is known for her Kannada novel ‘Dollar Bahu’, translated into English and televised by Zee TV in 2001, and her Marathi story ‘Runa’ was adapted into a film.
