Delhi Police warn commuters may face traffic jams due to farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest, with a large jam at Delhi-Haryana’s Singhu border.

The Delhi Police has announced a strict vigil at the Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur borders, railway and Metro stations, and bus stands.

Police have increased security at all three borders, but will not shut any border or route, but will conduct vehicle checks.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Jimmy Chiram confirmed that force is already deployed at the Delhi-Haryana border following the farmers’ call.

A police officer stated temporary barriers were removed at Singhu and Tikri borders, but police and paramilitary personnel remain deployed to ensure strict vigilance.

Farmers’ protest: Delhi makes security arrangements

Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at railway, Metro, and bus stations to ensure safety for farmers who will be using public transport.

An officer stated that Section 144 has been imposed in Delhi, and no gathering or assembly is allowed in this area.

Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, and ISBT Kashmere Gate now have increased security.

Farmers’ Delhi chalo protest

Farmers’ agitation bodies, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), have called on farmers nationwide to reach Delhi on Wednesday.

Leaders of the farming community Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal made the appeal.

Two activists have called for a nationwide ‘rail roko’ agitation on March 10 to demand a legal guarantee of minimum crop support price.

A 21-year-old farmer was killed and several others injured in a clash between security personnel and protesting farmers in Khanauri, Punjab-Haryana last month.
