pregnant woman transported to hospital in Kerala on a fabric sling; investigation ordered
A pregnant woman in Kerala was transported to a hospital on a fabric sling after she was allegedly denied an ambulance. The woman, who is in her seventh month of pregnancy, was forced to walk for nearly two kilometers to reach the nearest main road, where she was finally picked up by a passing auto-rickshaw and taken to the hospital.
The incident came to light after a video of the woman’s plight went viral on social media, prompting an investigation by the district authorities. The woman’s husband said that they had called for an ambulance but it never arrived, forcing them to take her to the hospital on their own.
This is a shameful incident that highlights the poor state of healthcare in Kerala. The authorities must take immediate steps to improve the situation so that no other woman has to go through this ordeal.
