The teams for the first two Test matches against Australia as well as the T20I and ODI series against New Zealand were revealed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday. Prithvi Shaw has been picked up for the T20Is against the Kiwis, but Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have only recently been selected up for the Test series.

Shaw, who last played for India in the T20I series against Sri Lanka in July 2021, returns to the Indian side after 537 days. Ishan Kishan, a fellow wicketkeeper-batter, is also named to the Test team along with KS Bharat. Jasprit Bumrah, the team India’s best fast bowler, is still not participating in international competition. The fast bowler was initially included in the ODI squad against Sri Lanka but was later cut after failing to recover in time for the series.
