The BJP won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by replacing Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur with Alok Sharma, a former mayor.

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur admitted to disliking Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the past, leading to her exclusion from the party’s first list for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, stating she would not be forgiven.

Pragya Singh Thakur, who has not sought a ticket before, has already apologised to Prime Minister Modi for his previous statements, stating that he wouldn’t forgive Thakur, despite Modi’s expressed disapproval.

Pragya Singh Thakur, known as one of the ‘giant killers’, won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a margin of 3,64,822 votes over Congress stalwart Digvijaya Singh.

Pragya Singh Thakur, despite her electoral success, has faced controversies. She compared former Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad chief Hemant Karkare to mythological figures Ravan and Kans, and her remarks on Karkare’s death in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks sparked controversy, leading to a show-cause notice from the ECI.

Pragya Singh Thakur criticized Nathuram Godse, Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin, as a patriot, despite apologizing and receiving condemnation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Modi stated that he would not forgive Pragya Singh Thakur for insulting Mahatma Gandhi, stating that he would never forgive Thakur.
