Shailendra Singh, a former deputy superintendent of police, revealed on Friday how the Mulayam Singh Yadav government of that era allegedly forced him to quit within 15 days after he had used the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) against gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari in January 2004.

News of Mukhtar Ansari’s passing: Shailendra Singh was accused of vandalism after he was forced to quit in 2004 due to political pressure.

Five-time MLA Mukhtar Ansari passed away one day later. Shailendra Singh told news agency ANI that he was the one who had initially taken a light machine pistol out of the hands of the gangster-turned-politician.

The height of Mukhtar Ansari’s empire was in 2004, 20 years ago. When curfews were in place, Mukhtar Ansari would travel around in open jeeps. That was the time I got an LMG back. There was no recuperation prior to or following that. I even made him take the POTA. But the government of Mulayam was determined to save him at all costs. Under his pressure, the DIG, SP-STF, IG-range, and IG were transferred. Within 15 days, I was forced to quit as well. However, I said in my resignation letter why I was leaving and informed the public that this is the administration you elected, one that is under the control of mafias and guards their interests. No one was receiving a favor from me. It was my responsibility. According to Shailendra Singh.

This is the last day of Arvind Kejriwal’s ED remand. Details of the liquor “scam” would be disclosed by Delhi CM in court?

Published

on

Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, announced on March 27 that he will reveal the details of an alleged liquor scam in court today.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to appear in court on March 28 after his Enforcement Directorate custodial remand ends. Kejriwal, who is also the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, is expected to reveal the truth about the “Denmark liquor scam,” according to his wife Sunita Kejriwal.

The Delhi high court is set to hear a public interest litigation (PIL) requesting Arvind Kejriwal’s removal as Delhi chief minister, with the bench consisting of Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora.

Sunita Kejriwal announced that her husband, Kejriwal, will reveal details of an alleged liquor scam in court on Thursday and provide evidence.

During a meeting with the central agency in ED custody, he revealed that over 250 raids have been conducted in the last two years regarding the “so-called liquor scam,” but no paisa has been found.

The ED searched Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Satyendar Jain’s residences, but no money was found. The CM’s residence was searched, and the money was questioned about the “litrum scam”.

The ED has conducted over 250 raids in the liquor scam, but no money has been found. Arvind Kejriwal plans to reveal the money and provide proof in court on March 28.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with an alleged money laundering case linked to the excise policy.

The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate regarding Arvind Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest and ED remand, but has not provided immediate relief.

Delhi education minister Atishi praised the high court’s decision, stating that the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal is not legal, undemocratic, or politically motivated, a statement that has been echoed by the Aam Aadmi Party, opposition members, and the INDIA bloc.

The High Court (HC) has deemed the arrest politically motivated and potentially undemocratic, prompting the ED to be issued a notice to investigate, according to Atishi.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma has issued notice on the AAP leader’s petition challenging his arrest and remand to the ED’s custody, requesting the agency to respond and his plea for interim relief of release before April 2.

The judge has stated that the matter will be resolved on April 3 and no adjournment will be granted.

The INDIA bloc is scheduled to hold a “maha rally” at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on March 31 to protect the country’s interests and democracy.

Union Minister Smriti Irani has criticized Kejriwal for allegedly engaging in a liquor scam and has expressed his reluctance to face any investigation against himself.

Irani alleged that the Supreme Court has found a money trail in a liquor scam, and that AAP used the looted funds for Goa and Punjab election campaigns, skipping nine summonses issued by the ED.

Union minister Anurag Thakur criticized Kejriwal, while Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva called for the AAP leader to resign as the chief minister of Delhi.

Amit Shah mocked Rahul Gandhi about electoral connections with his “hafta vasooli”

Published

on

Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday lashed out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over the latter’s ‘biggest extortion racket’ jibe on electoral bonds. “Gandhi also got ₹1,600 crore. He should explain where he got that ‘hafta vasooli’ from. We say it is a transparent donation, but if he says it is vasooli, he should give details.”

When asked if the Bharatiya Janata Party would declare the list of donors, the minister said that the India bloc would ‘not be able to show its face’. Last week, several political parties revealed the source and amount of donations received through poll bonds. According to the EC data, BJP had received ₹6,061 crore (47.5% of total redeemed value), followed by the Trinamool Congress with ₹1,610 crore (12.6%) and Congress with ₹1,422 crore (11.1%)

With ₹1,368 crore, Future Gaming of lottery king Santiago Martin was the largest buyer of electoral bonds; roughly 37% of that amount went to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), the ruling party in Tamil Nadu.

The Janata Dal (Secular), led by HD Deve Gowda, was given bonds valued at ₹89.75 crore, of which ₹50 crore came from Megha Engineering, which is the second biggest buyer of electoral bonds.

“There is a claim that we have had a large number of donations. This is untrue to the core. In contrast to the ‘Indi Alliance’ led by Rahul Gandhi, which received more than ₹6,200 crore, we have received ₹6,200 crore. How many seats does the ‘Indi Alliance’ have, considering that we have 303 seats and governments in 17 states? stated the Union home minister.

Shah made this comment after the Supreme Court declared electoral bonds to be “unconstitutional.” While expressing respect for the ruling of the Supreme Court, the minister claimed that poll bonds had nearly put an end to the use of dark money in politics.

Shah went on to criticize the INDIA bloc, claiming that they supported the “old system of cutting money to rule over politics once again” and that this was why they opposed the bonds.
