A bomb exploded in Thailand’s south on Sunday, leaving three dead and four injured, authorities said.

The explosion occurred in the province of Pattani, which has seen a resurgence of violence in recent years.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the province is home to a separatist insurgency that has been waging a decades-long fight for independence.

The insurgency is one of the longest-running conflicts in Thailand and has claimed the lives of thousands of people.

The latest attack comes as the Thai government is facing increasing pressure to find a solution to the violence.

Authorities said the bomb went off near a market in the town of Sai Buri at around 1:00 pm local time.

The three people who were killed were all civilians, authorities said. The four people who were injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The attack comes just days after another bomb exploded in the province of Yala, also in Thailand’s south.

That attack, which occurred on Friday, left two police officers dead and four people injured.

No group has claimed responsibility for either attack, but both provinces are home to a separatist insurgency that has been waging a decades-long fight.
