The execution was carried out in front of a crowd of hundreds of people in the capital, Kabul. The victim, identified only as Rokhshana, was accused of adultery by her husband. She was sentenced to death by a Taliban court. The Taliban have been criticized for their treatment of women, who are not allowed to work or go to school under their rule.
