The IMD has forecast rain and a duststorm with a 35 kmph wind speed for Delhi today.

On Friday, June 7, the national capital is expected to have light rain, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Dust storms or thunderstorms will accompany this, along with high surface winds that blow at 25 to 35 kmph with periodic gusts throughout the day.

“Isolated to scattered very light to light rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (40-50 kmph) very likely over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during June 06–07, 2024,” the weather agency stated in its most recent weather bulletin. There is a good chance of a dust storm across Rajasthan on June 6–7, 2024, and over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh on June 6. On June 7, 2024, an isolated hailstorm is most likely to occur across West Rajasthan.

On June 8, same overcast weather is anticipated. There will be clear skies and strong winds on June 9. The national capital will see partly overcast skies and strong surface winds from June 10 to June 12.

“Western disturbance causes weather change”
The city is undergoing a “weather change due to the influence of a new western disturbance,” according to the IMD.

A powerful dust storm blew through numerous regions of Delhi-NCR on Thursday night. Residents were somewhat relieved from the extreme heat as the highest temperature decreased from 44 degrees Celsius the day before to 41.2 degrees Celsius, which is slightly over normal, according to the IMD.

The IMD report states that the relative humidity varied from 39% to 57% and that the minimum temperature was 24.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees below average.

The main weather station in the city, Safdarjung, registered a high temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius. The highest temperatures recorded in Najafgarh and Narela, two other weather stations in Delhi, were 44.4 and 42.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The highest temperature recorded was 43.2 degrees Celsius in Aya Nagar, 40.6 degrees Celsius in Ridge, and 42.3 degrees Celsius in Palam.
