Laken Riley’s mom, Allyson Phillips, expressed her family’s unimaginable loss.

Laken Riley, a murdered Georgia woman, was found dead near a lake on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, suffering from “blunt force trauma” and visible injuries, according to UGA Police Chief Jeff Clark.

Phillips expressed gratitude to those who supported her during her difficult time, expressing her love for the time, effort, and prayers they received from family, friends, and the community. She urged them to continue praying for her family as they move forward, expressing her deep appreciation for the support they received.

Riley was killed by illegal immigrant Jose Antonio Ibarra during a run. Ibarra prevented her from calling 911 and dragged her body to a secluded area. A former criminal profiler’s analysis suggests Ibarra likely panicked and crushed her skull.

Ibarra faces charges including malice, felony murder, aggravated battery, kidnapping, and concealing another’s death, claiming it was a “crime of opportunity.” Clark claims Ibarra has no extensive criminal history.
