On Sunday night at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the month-long T20 World Cup 2022 came to an end with England being crowned the winners for the second time in history. A fiery Pakistani pace attack put the Jos Buttler-led team on the back foot in the final, making 138 a respectable total at the MCG. Ben Stokes, however, once again stepped up for England and finished the chase in the penultimate over. The ICC unveiled the T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament one day after the big final.

Four members of the winning England team make up the team, along with two players each from Pakistan and India and one player each from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and New Zealand. The 12th man, who is also from the Indian team, was also included in the lineup by the ICC.

The two star batters from India who make the starting XI are Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav. With 296 runs scored and a sensational average of 98.66, Kohli has had a strong World Cup performance in Australia. He has become the tournament’s leading run-getter for the second time in T20 history, and his four fifty-plus scores include the breath-taking 82* against Pakistan to start India’s campaign.

The other Indian batter to make the XI is Suryakumar, who finished as the second-highest run scorer with 239 runs at a staggering strike rate of 189.68. He also climbed to the top spot in the ICC T20I batters ranking during the tournament.

Hardik Pandya, an all-rounder, was also added by the ICC as the team’s 12th player following his outstanding performance in Australia, where he took eight wickets in six games and finished third on the team in scoring.
